About the Championship
The 2014 Big 12 Soccer Championship will take place on Nov. 5, 7 and 9, 2014 at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City. This marks the second season that the event will be held in Kansas City.
The top eight teams based on conference results determined by a point system qualify for the Big 12 Championship. A squad gets three points for each conference win and one point for each conference tie.
This season marks the 16th year that eight schools will participate in the league championship. For the first three years a six-team field was utilized for the postseason event. The winner of the Big 12 Championship receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
Baylor, Oklahoma State, Texas, West Virginia are the only current Big 12 members teams to have captured the conference postseason championship.
Last year West Virginia claimed the school's first Big 12 postseason title. Oklahoma State has won three (2003, '09, '10). Texas notched consecutive titles in 2006 and 2007.
