Dayna Scherf

Title: Vice President – Women’s Basketball

Dayna Scherf is in her 22nd season at the Big 12 Conference and currently serves as Vice President – Women’s Basketball. She previously has held positions of Vice President of Women’s Basketball and Competition, Senior Associate Commissioner for Championships, Associate Commissioner for Championships, Assistant Commissioner for Championships, Director of Championship, Assistant Director of Championships and Executive Associate Commissioner for Championships since coming to the Big 12 in August 1999.

She oversees women's basketball for the Conference. She also has served as tournament manager for a number of NCAA events, including the 2017 NCAA Women’s Final Four, the 2014 and 2003 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championships and the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Regionals in Dallas (2011, 2016), Oklahoma City (2008, 2009, 2013) and Kansas City (2010, 2018). She works closely with the conference’s respective coaching groups and senior woman administrators. She was the 2010 recipient of the Judith M. Sweet Commitment Award.

Scherf came to the Big 12 after four years at the Sun Belt Conference where she was the Director of Media Services and later Assistant Commissioner. While at the Sun Belt, she developed the league’s media relations plan, coordinating conference publications, press releases, statistics and records. She also served as the conference’s senior woman administrator.

Prior to joining the Sun Belt, Scherf spent the 1994-95 academic year as administrative intern for the Missouri Valley and Gateway conferences in addition to public relations director for the Pioneer Football League.

Scherf has also served as media relations director and softball coordinator for the Ohio Senior Olympics and media relations assistant for the Dayton Wings of the World Basketball League.

The Bellbrook, Ohio, native graduated summa cum laude from the University of Dayton in 1993 with a major in sport management and a minor in journalism. Scherf competed in volleyball for four years and softball for one season for the Flyers. She also served as a student assistant in the athletic administration and sports information offices at Dayton.

Scherf received her master’s degree in sport management in 1995 from The Ohio State University where she worked in the sports information office.
