Jenn Hunter was named Chief Impact Officer for the Big 12 in 2022. In her role, Hunter develops, implements, and assesses all aspects of Student-Athlete related matters including: Academics & Awards, Faculty Athletics Representatives, Student-Athlete Success Programs, SAAC, and Mental Health, as well as leads all Inclusion & Community Engagement initiatives for the conference. Through her work she serves as the conference liaison on key issues and strategy necessary to strengthen resources, policies, culture and values, and helps guide the conference in connecting to the student-athletes, administrators, coaches and communities that the Big 12 serves.
Hunter previously served as the Senior Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion for the Portland Trail Blazers and Rose Quarter where she led all inclusion strategy, policy and learning for the organization. She oversaw the internal and external execution of equity and inclusion initiatives for the organization, and worked to increase the impact of the Trail Blazers in underserved communities through marketing and storytelling, programming, supplier diversity efforts and the Trail Blazers Racial Equity Project.
Prior to her time in Portland, Hunter led inclusion initiatives at both the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Brown University. Previously she worked at UC Berkeley as an Academic Specialist/Coordinator and taught in the New Orleans Public School District.
Hunter earned a BA in Public Relations and Sports Administration from Howard University and holds a Juris Doctor from Texas Southern University’s Thurgood Marshall School of Law.
