Jordan Newell

Title: Associate Director - Social Media

Jordan Newell joined the Big 12 Conference as the Assistant Director - Social Media in June 2023. He was promoted to Associate Director - Social Media Content for the Conference in 2025. Newell contributes to the Big 12’s social strategy, creative direction and digital services across all of its social media platforms to elevate the League’s brand.

Newell comes to the Conference from Oklahoma State University, where he most recently served as a graduate assistant with OSU Athletic Communications and sports information director for Cowgirl softball for the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

In 2023, alongside his responsibilities as a graduate assistant with OSU Athletic Communications, Newell received his master’s degree in mass communications.

During the 2022-23 athletic year, Newell was named the recipient of the Will Hancock Memorial Scholarship, awarded to a graduate member of the Oklahoma State Athletic Communications department each year.

Ahead of his second season as the SID for Cowgirl softball, Newell served as one of four publishers for the #CFBPlayoff social team at the 2023 College Football Playoff National Championship in Los Angeles, California.

A 2021 cum laude graduate of Oklahoma State, Newell earned his bachelor’s degree in sports media.

In his first full athletic year with OSU Athletic Communications – 2020-21 – Newell worked as SID for OSU cross country and track and field.
 
In 2020, Newell operated in a limited capacity as a digital strategy intern with Louisiana Athletics. Newell began his career as a creative services associate with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals – MiLB Double-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals – in 2016.

While Newell resides in Irving, Texas, his mother and father live in Youngsville, Louisiana. His younger brother – Tyler – attends LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
