Derek Sandiford

Title: Human Resources Manager

Derek Sandiford joined the Big 12 Conference as Human Resources Manager in August of 2024. Sandiford provides comprehensive human resource management for Big 12 by overseeing all human resource functions with emphasis on change management, benefits administration, recruitment and retention of talent, performance management, professional development, staff fulfilment, and more.

He arrived in Irving, Texas after nearly two years as the Director of HR & Talent for Intersport where he managed a number of HR programs and key initiatives while enhancing DEI programming and strategies for the talent team.

Throughout his career, Sandiford worked in an HR capacity at a number of healthcare and municipal organizations, including Beltone Hearing Corporation, Chicago Botanic Garden and NorthShore University Health System.

A 2002 graduate of Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Sandiford earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Marketing while serving as a member of Pi Sigma Epsilon. He and his wife, Maggie, have a daughter named Payton.
