Kauri Black

Title: Associate Vice President - Broadcast & Emerging Platforms

Kauri Black joined the Big 12 Conference as Associate Vice President of Broadcast & Emerging Platforms in January 2025. He serves as the liaison between the Conference’s member institutions and media partners, helping navigate the evolving media landscape to maximize exposure.

Black spent nearly a decade at the American Athletic Conference, serving as Associate Commissioner for Broadcast and Digital Programming and as a member of The American’s Senior Staff since 2022. He spearheaded the use of campus control rooms to create ROI opportunities for member institutions, elevated digital productions, and expanded original programming. He executive produced FAU Basketball: Run It Back (ESPNU/ESPN+), which earned a Silver Telly Award, and The Brotherhood: Inside Army Football (CBS Sports Network/ESPNU/ESPN+), and also created the all-women-led alternative broadcast Bulls Above the Boards with USF. Additionally, Black maximized linear exposure and provided viewership analysis to support strategic programming decisions.

A former Division I men’s basketball student-athlete, Black played at Northeastern University and The University of Tulsa. He holds a bachelor's degree in social sciences and humanities from Northeastern, a master's degree in mathematics and science education from Tulsa, a master's degree in sport and entertainment management from the University of South Carolina, and a graduate certificate in Data Science and Analytics from Elmhurst University. In 2024, he was honored with the Distinguished Young Alumni Award from the University of South Carolina’s College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management.
