Lizzie Gomez

Title: Associate Vice President – Olympic Competition

Lizzie Gomez joined the Big 12 Conference as Associate Vice President for Olympic Competition in May of 2025. She oversees competition operations for all the Big 12’s Olympic sports and helps manage the competition team.

Gomez joined the Big 12 from the Southland Conference where she served as Deputy Commissioner and Senior Woman Administrator for two years. At the Southland Conference, she was a key member of the Executive Leadership Team who oversaw the regular season and championship administration for all 18 Conference sports with specific sport administration for women’s basketball, volleyball, softball and beach volleyball. Gomez was also the Southland’s primary liaison to the institutional Senior Woman Administrators, Championships & Competition Committee, Basketball Advisory Committee, Business Managers Committee while also serving as a member of the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Committee.

Prior to joining the Southland, Gomez spent nearly four years as the Deputy Athletics Director for Internal Operations and Senior Woman Administrator at Texas A&M-Corpus-Christi. She was responsible for the day-to-day internal operations for the Islanders, which included 16 sports and 11 departments & provided sport supervision to Baseball, Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field, Women’s Soccer, Women’s Volleyball and Beach Volleyball and oversight of the Sports Performance, Athletics Business Office and Facilities/Events Management units.

Gomez was the Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations and Senior Woman Administrator at Cal State Northridge from October 2013 to February 2019 where she managed all aspects of CSUN Athletics’ $15 million+ budget which includes 19 intercollegiate sports and 11departments and was the sport administrator for a number of the Matadors’ programs.

Her career in college athletics began in the Compliance Office at the University of Maryland Athletics Department, beginning as an intern in 2006 before rising up the ranks to Associate Director in 2010. She then spent nearly three years as Director of Compliance at Oklahoma.

A 2006 graduate of Flagler College in Saint Augustine, Florida where she played volleyball, Gomez earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sport Management and graduated Cum Laude. She then earned her Master’s Degree at Oklahoma in Adult and Higher Education with an emphasis on Student Affairs in 2013. She and her husband, Chris, have two sons; Emerson and Brooks.
