The Texas Tech pitching staff tossed its sixth shutout all-time in the NCAA Championship in its CWS-clinching Super Regional win, five have come under head coach Tim Tadlock. The Red Raiders tossed four shutouts during the 2014 run to the College World Series.
Tech’s successful start to league play this year was boosted by a school record 11-game conference winning streak, which marked the fifth-longest winning streak in league history. Tech’s .792 win percentage is the fourth best in Big 12 history.
The Red Raiders won all four of their Big 12 road series this season as Texas Tech was 10-2 away from home in league play after taking two-of-three games at Baylor (March 18-20) and No. 6 TCU (April 29-May 1) while also sweeping No. 16 Oklahoma State (April 8-10) and Kansas (May 6-8). Tech is one of 12 teams to win 10 or more conference games away from home in a single season.

Travis Watkins blasted two home runs, including a grand slam, and accounted for six RBI in East Carolina’s 8-6 series-opening victory over Texas Tech.

Eric Gutierrez delivered a clutch two-out, two-run single in the 13th inning, and Ryan Dugger fired five innings of shutout relief to vault Texas Tech to a dramatic 3-1 victory over East Carolina.

The Red Raiders, backed by six runs over the first three frames and seven shutout innings from Erikson Lanning, topped East Carolina, 11-0, Sunday afternoon in front of another capacity crowd of 4,817 fans. Eric Gutierrez finished with three RBI, while Hunter Hargrove had four.
