MISSOURI
Head Coach - Tim Jamieson
"I know it doesn't mean anything for the committee, but, in terms of lobbying, I would like to see another team that has beat Texas three times, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma on the road, essentially. I know it does not come down to just how you are at the end of the tournament, but it certainly should make a statement. I think, as you all have seen in the last few days, that this team is good enough to go to a regional, I think to win a regional, but we have to get there first. As far as today's game goes, we scored five in the first and then got a little help. I think the team on the other side of the field knows when we have Max (Scherzer) on the mound, five runs is a steep climb. We were able to keep the momentum on our side from an offensive standpoint. We played good baseball and we are looking forward to tomorrow night."
Player Quotes
Max Scherzer, P, Jr.
"I feel 100% health-wise. I've done enough rehab on my shoulder to make sure that when I'm out there in the seventh inning I'm just as strong as I was in the first. As a team, we always play well in the Big 12 Tournament. It doesn't matter who it is, we usually make a good showing."
J.C. Field, C, Sr.
"Team-wise we've been swinging a lot better the last couple of weeks. Our pitch selection is a lot better than it was earlier in the year. We're playing like we have nothing to lose. We're on the attack as opposed to the pitcher attacking us."
On Pitcher Max Scherzer...
"He's our security blanket a little bit. Obviously, Max is our top guy out there. We want him on the mound whenever possible. But also in our bullpen, everyone here is capable. Pitching hasn't really been our problem; it's really been a mental thing."
OKLAHOMA
Head Coach - Sunny Golloway
"Needless to say this is a disappointing performance on our part. I think there's no question Missouri is fighting hard. We're going to tip our cap to Coach Jamieson and their ball club. We've been revealed by giving up too many runs early. We wanted to try and hang in there. We made some changes in our bullpen, but we knew it was done after the first. I can assure you our fire is there, but we've faced two great pitchers and we have not put ourselves in a position to fight. I feel we've let down our fans and I really feel like I've personally let down people who have gotten on board with us lately. Our effort was tremendous, but we haven't done it in front of our fans. "
Player Quotes
Jackson Williams, C, Soph.
"Before the game everyone was up and feeling good. This is definitely not the way we saw the game coming at us. We didn't see the run rule in the seventh coming. We were planning on coming out and playing a good ball game and trying to bounce back from the loss on Wednesday. The errors, well there's not much you can say about them. They were routine balls and I'll stick with the guys that I have on my team at 2nd, 3rd, and shortstop every day of the year with the ground ball, and nine out of 10 times it goes the way it's supposed to. There's no explanation for it. Missouri got going and it snowballed, and there was nothing we could do to stop it."
