WACO, Texas - Last season, Oklahoma State came to town and defeated Baylor, denying the Lady Bears a share of the Big 12 regular-season title.

New year, different result.

Fifth-ranked Baylor blitzed the 22nd-ranked Cowgirls with a dominating second-half spurt that led to an easier-than-expected 75-57 Big 12 Conference victory Saturday night.

Considering it was four-on-one, Baylor (15-1, 3-0) should have won. The Lady Bears had four players in double figures and two of those were reserves. Oklahoma State (12-4, 1-2) countered with Andrea Riley, who scored 33.

"Riley's gonna get her points," said Baylor's Melissa Jones, who came off the bench to score a career-high 18 to lead Baylor. "We have people who can contribute in all parts of the game. This team has a lot of confidence.

"We wanted this win really bad after last year."

Oklahoma State's 6-2 junior center Megan Byford, who averages 5.6 rebounds per game, suffered what is thought to be a high ankle sprain just over one minute into the game. "After the injury to Megan, we got little real quick," Oklahoma State Kurt Budke said. "She's our size inside. And Baylor has two of the best post players in the Big 12."

Budke was referencing starters Danielle Wilson and Rachel Allison. Morghan Medlock, though, came off the bench to score 14 points with seven rebounds.

"With our starters, we've got five players who can score and it's who are you gonna guard," Baylor coach Kim Mulkey said. "We get Melissa and Morghan going and that gives us seven players who can score. We've got a lot of different options."

After a miss by Baylor's Wilson (14 points, 12 rebounds, Riley stormed the length of the floor for a layup that gave Oklahoma State a 38-37 lead 2:26 into the second half.

Riley is the greatest one-woman show since Lily Tomlin was on Broadway performing "The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe."

Oklahoma State spent the night searching for support for Riley. With her flash drives and kamikaze finishes at the basket, Riley made 10-of-23 shots and was 12-of-13 from the free throw line. The Cowgirls not named Andrea Riley were 7-of-27 from the field and 8-of-12 from the line.

With only Riley producing, Baylor clamped down on the other Cowgirls. And the Lady Bears' defense was the key to the game-clinching 20-2 run that started after Riley gave Oklahoma State its last lead.

Baylor forced five turnovers - two of them coming on steals by Jhasmin Player - and limited the Cowgirls to two points on 11 possessions.

The Lady Bears' offense responded against Oklahoma State's zone by making three 3-pointers - two by Jessica Morrow, one by Jones. After the 20-2 blitz, Baylor had control and a 57-40 lead.

"Basketball is a game of runs," said Riley who also had Oklahoma State's three assists. "You give a team as good as Baylor a 20-2 run and it's hard to get back in the game. Baylor pressured us and we didn't respond."

With 1:32 remaining, Mulkey called timeout and Baylor went ABC sitcom (Scrubs); five reserves took the floor to run off the final 92 seconds.

Earlier Saturday, Baylor's men overcame a 17-point first-half deficit and defeated Oklahoma State, 98-92, in overtime at the Ferrell Center.

"It was a good day for Baylor," Mulkey declared.
