Khat Bell (Texas) and Tory Vaughan (Texas Tech) have been tabbed Big 12 Volleyball Players of the Week for matches of Oct. 24-30. Bell's performance garnered her Offensive Player of the Week as well as Rookie of the Week honors. She is the first freshman to earn the offensive accolade since Nov. 3, 2008. The pair of honors gives her four on the season as she also claimed Rookie of the Week distinctions on Sept. 19 and Oct. 10. Vaughan collects her first weekly honor, the second defensive award for the Red Raiders this season.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK; ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Bell led No. 9 Texas in its sweep over No. 14 Iowa State last Friday as UT claimed the top spot in the Big 12 standings. The Mesquite, Texas-native led the Horns in hitting percentage, kills and blocks in the win. She hammered out 13 kills on 16 error-free swings and hit at an .812 clip in the win, while adding two solo blocks, four digs and six total blocks. Bell averaged 5.67 points, 4.33 kills, 2.00 blocks and 1.33 digs per set. She has recorded 24 kills on 28 attacks and committed zero errors in her last two outings. Her .812 single-match hitting percentage tied for the best mark in the league this season.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tory Vaughan, Texas Tech, L, Jr., San Antonio, Texas
Vaughan recorded a career-high 31 digs in Texas Tech's five-set victory over Baylor last Wednesday, helping the Red Raiders claim their first Big 12 win in the process. The junior libero's total was the most for a Tech player in the rally scoring era. It also marked the most digs by a Red Raider since Ann Romjue set the school record with 36 digs against Texas A&M on Nov. 18, 2000. Vaughan, who ranks eighth in the conference in digs per set, posted the third-highest digs output for a five-set match in the Big 12 this season. Tech, which played only once last week, snapped a 13-match losing streak against Baylor.
