Krey Bratsen (Texas A&M), Corey Knebel and Erich Weiss (Texas) have been selected to the 2011
Baseball America Freshman All-America team.
Knebel, the NCBWA Stopper of the Year and Freshman Pitcher of the Year, picked up a first team honor. The Longhorn set the Texas single-season record with 19 saves, second-best nationally, in 2011. His 19 saves were one shy of the Big 12 single-season record set in 1999. He finished the year with a 3-2 record, 1.13 ERA and 61 strikeouts in 55.2 innings.
Weiss and Bratsen collected second team honors. Weiss, the Big 12 Freshman of the Year, ranked in the top 10 in six of the league's offensive categories. The third baseman topped the Big 12 in walks (53) and on-base percentage (.483), while batting fourth-best in the Big 12 (.348). He tied for second in triples (7) and was the only freshman listed in the top 10 in the Conference's RBI category with 45.
Bratsen finished his rookie campaign with a .332 batting average. The Aggie ranked second in the league in stolen bases (31) and third in hits (89). Bratsen's 31 swipes place him seventh in A&M single-season history and ninth nationally this season. In the field he committed only one error on the year to put together a .994 fielding percentage.
