Reigning Big 12 postseason champion TCU has claimed the 2015 Big 12 baseball regular season title.
With a 16-5 record with two conference games remaining, the Frogs own, and will finish with, the best conference win percentage for the season. With the regular season title, the Frogs also lock up the No. 1 seed at next week’s Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship at ONEOK Field in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The regular season champion has advanced to the Championship finale 10 times.
TCU becomes the fifth different league team to win the Big 12 regular season crown in the past five years. The last time a conference squad won back-to-back titles was the 2010 and 2011 seasons. The Frogs are the eighth team to win the regular season following a postseason crown the year before.
Currently ranked as high as third in the nation, TCU has been sat in the top 10 nationally all season and has a 41-9 overall record. The Frogs currently have a nine-game conference win streak and are 26-2 at home on the year.
TCU leads the Big 12 in batting average, ERA and fielding percentage and ranks first in the nation in ERA and second in shutouts.
Led by Jim Schlossnagle, who collected his 500th win with the Frogs this season, TCU has made the College World series twice in the past five seasons.
