With the Big 12 baseball season around the corner, recap the preseason rankings and accolades from around the league.
Oklahoma State and TCU represent the Big 12 in five preseason top 25 rankings with the Cowboys sitting in the top 11 in four, including as high as No. 9 by Baseball America. TCU earned a pair of No. 12 rankings to enter the season. Oklahoma, Texas and Texas Tech either appear on or are receiving votes in at least three polls nationally. The Sooners sit at No. 21 on Baseball America’s list, while Texas is No. 23 in the D1Baseball.com rankings.
In individual accolades, four Big 12 players earned spots on preseason All-America teams, including a trio of selections for Oklahoma’s Alec Hansen and TCU’s Mitchell Traver. OU’s Sheldon Neuse also picked up a pair of preseason All-America nods.
The 2016 Big 12 baseball season begins on Friday, Feb. 19, with conference play kicking off a month later on March 18.
