OKLAHOMA CITY-  The fifth-straight upset of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship saw No. 4-seeded Oklahoma knocked off regular-season champion Texas, 3-1, in game five at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark on Thursday morning.

Much like Wednesday, the lower seed prevailed again as the league-record of lower seeds winning to open the championship was extended to five consecutive games.

A single by Kyler Murray drove home Cade Harris to give the Sooners a one-run lead in the top of the first. A blast by junior Blake Brewster over the left field wall in the third extended the Oklahoma (35-22) lead 2-0.

Back-to-back doubles by sophomore Brandon Zaragoza and junior Domenic DeRenzo pushed the OU edge to three in the top of the fifth.

Texas (37-20) added its only run in the bottom frame, as sophomore Duke Ellis grounded to second, scoring junior Andy McGuire to cut the score 3-1.

Freshman Levi Prater (3-3) earned his first career win against the Longhorns, while junior Austin Hansen adds his seventh save of the season to his resume.

Junior Nolan Kingham (12-4) dropped his fourth loss of the season, surrendering three runs on eight hits.

Oklahoma stays alive and is set to square-off against No. 8 Kansas in a 3:15 p.m. tilt on Friday.

Interview with TTU's Cameron Warren

OKLAHOMA CITY- Third-seeded Texas Tech continued the trend of the lower seed winning as the Red Raiders downed No. 2 Oklahoma State, 6-2, in an elimination game on Thursday afternoon at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

For the first time in Big 12 Championship history, the top-two seeds were the first teams eliminated.

Senior Jon Littell gave the Cowboys (29-24-1) a one-run advantage in the first inning with his RBI single through the left side

The Red Raiders (39-16) quickly responded as junior Cam Warren led off the bottom of the first with a moonshot to tie the game. Warren added his second round-tripper of the day with a two-run bomb to left to give TTU a 3-1 lead. Warren’s stat line for the day was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs.

OSU bats tightened the score, 3-2, after Littell rolled home on an RBI single in the fourth.

Texas Tech claimed three more runs in the top of the seventh. Sophomore Grant Little reached on a fielder’s choice, and junior Zach Rheams laced a single through the right side, both marking RBI. With the bases loaded, senior Michael Davis walked safely to first to move the runners up.

Ty Harpenau (6-2) seized the victory, holding the Cowboys to two hits and a walk, while Jose Quezada notched his second save of the season.

OSU’s Carson Teel (7-4) yielded the three runs on four hits in the loss.

The Red Raiders move on to play No. 7 West Virginia in a 7 p.m. game on Friday.
