Baylor’s Juicy Landrum and West Virginia’s Tynice Martin shared Big 12 Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors, while Texas Tech’s Chrislyn Carr snatched her third consecutive Freshman of the Week award. A five-person media panel selects the weekly award honorees.
Landrum collected her first weekly award after boasting 17.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists in BU’s wins over K-State and TCU. The junior tallied 12 points and seven defensive rebounds in the win over K-State. The Waco native registered 23 points, eight rebounds and five assists at TCU to give the Lady Bears their fifth consecutive win.
Martin averaged 20.5 points and 5.0 rebounds while shooting 50 percent (16-of-32) from the field in wins over Oklahoma State and Oklahoma. She netted 21 points and connected on 9-of-18 from the field in the win over the Cowgirls. The redshirt junior followed up that contest with four three-point makes and 20 points at Oklahoma to earn her second weekly award in her career.
The freshman Carr averaged 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists, as the Lady Raiders went 1-1 last week. Carr scored 19 points and dished out five assists in TTU’s 69-66 win over Kansas. She followed with 21 points and four three-point makes at Oklahoma State. Carr has recorded double-digits in 11 consecutive games and won four Freshman of the Week awards this season.
