Baseball Trio Named Preseason All-Americans

A trio of Big 12 baseball student-athletes have been named 2020 Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Preseason All-Americans. Texas Tech’s Brian Klein was a second team choice, while Baylor’s Nick Loftin and Oklahoma’s Jason Ruffcorn were third team selections.

Klein, a second baseman, hit .315 last season with three home runs and 57 RBI. The senior will look to guide preseason No. 3 Texas Tech back to the College World Series for the third-straight year and fourth time since 2016.

Loftin enters his junior season after hitting .323 with six home runs and 41 RBI in 2019. The shortstop will attempt to lead the Bears back to the postseason for the fourth consecutive season.

Ruffcorn was an All-Big 12 Second Team member for the Sooners in the 2019 season after leading the Conference with 11 saves. The senior right-handed reliever was 2-2 last year with a 2.43 ERA.
