Baylor sophomore infielder Nick Loftin earned Big 12 Player of the Week honors, while Bear junior southpaw Jason Dickens was named Newcomer of the Week. TCU junior lefty Nick Lodolo was tabbed Pitcher of the Week. A five-person media panel selects the weekly award winners.
Loftin batted .564 (13-of-23), as the Bears went 4-1 last week. The sophomore registered multi-hit performances in all five games and was 8-for-15 with six RBIs and two homers in the series win at Kansas.
Dickens, a junior transfer, struck out a career-best 12 batters – the most for a Baylor pitcher since 2014. Dickens allowed just two runs on two hits in six innings en route to an 8-2 victory over Kansas.
Lodolo recorded his sixth-straight quality start and allowed only two runs, both unearned, in the Horned Frogs’ 7-4 win over Oklahoma State. The lefty recorded a strikeout in six of seven innings, finishing the night with eight.
All of this week’s honorees are first-time award winners.
