Iowa State’s Ashley Joens and Oklahoma State’s Vivian Gray have been included as two of the top-10 candidates for the Cheryl Miller Award, as announced by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
Joens is averaging 21.3 points and 10.5 rebounds per game in her sophomore campaign. She is the only player in the nation averaging 20.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game and has collected 13 double-doubles already this season. Joens has been named Big 12 Player of the Week five times in the 2019-20 season, while no other Big 12 player has claimed the honor more than twice.
Gray currently ranks second in the league in scoring with 19.8 points per outing, eighth in assists at 3.8 per game and third in free-throw percentage at 84.8 percent. She has reached the 1,000-point mark faster than any player in OSU history (51 games). Gray has scored in double figures in 49 consecutive games and in 52 of her 54 outings as a Cowgirl.
