The Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award (BBCSA) presented by SR Bats has announced its watch list for the 2020 college baseball season, including five student-athletes from the Big 12. Baylor’s Nick Loftin and Andy Thomas, Oklahoma’s Tyler Hardman, Texas’ Austin Todd and Texas Tech’s Brian Klein are amongst the 36 players named to the list.
Beginning in 2017, the BBCSA was awarded to the top college hitter in Texas. In 2019, the honor expanded, becoming a regional award covering Division I programs in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma. Criteria for the accolade includes performance at the plate, academics and personal integrity.
The winner of the 2020 BBCSA will be announced in June and honored at a gala in the fall at the Fort Worth Club. The Conference has claimed two of the previous three awards, as Texas Tech’s Hunter Hargrove won the initial BBCSA in 2017 and fellow Red Raider Josh Jung took home the hardware in 2019.
