KU, OU, OSU Garner Week 4 Accolades

Kansas, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State student-athletes collected weekly Big 12 Baseball honors for the fourth week of the season. A five-person media panel selects the honorees.

Oklahoma’s Tyler Hardman was tabbed the Big 12 Baseball Player of the Week. Oklahoma State’s Justin Campbell was named the Pitcher of the Week. Campbell, along with Kansas’ Cole Larsen, were selected as Newcomers of the Week.

Hardman hit .833 (10 for 12) with four extra base hits, three walks and 10 runs scored in three games last week. He hit for the cycle against Arkansas State on Sunday, going 5-for-5 with four RBIs and three runs in the first game of the doubleheader. In order, Hardman homered, doubled, singled and tripled (then added another single in the ninth inning) to become the first Sooner in more than a decade to register all four different hits in a game. He followed that performance with a 3-for-3 game, scoring four runs in the nightcap.

Campbell had a career night at Oral Roberts, racking up a career-high 14 strikeouts in seven shutout innings and issuing just one walk. The 14 strikeouts were just two shy of the OSU single-game record. Campbell's performance helped OSU snap a nine-game losing streak to ORU at J.L. Johnson Stadium, a streak that dated back to 1995.

Larsen pitched a complete-game shutout at Omaha in a 9-0 victory. He struck out six with only two walks. For the week, the junior led the Big 12 in innings pitched, complete games and shutouts.
