Texas’ 2V8 picked up the Big 12 Boat of the Week honor after its first competition of the season with a 6:28.6 - 6:44.12 win at No. 7 Michigan.
 
Comprised of seven freshmen or redshirt freshmen, the crew was only 3.1 seconds slower than the Texas 1V8 in similar conditions. The time was also 5.92 seconds better than the Michigan first eight. The first 1000m were well protected, while the second 1000m had varying cross headwinds of 3-6 mph.
