BU & ISU Obtain Weekly Volleyball Accolades

Iowa State’s Annie Hatch (Offensive) and Brooke Stonestreet (Defensive) along with Baylor’s Averi Carlson (Rookie) earned Big 12 Volleyball awards for the ninth week of the season. Hatch and Stonestreet helped ISU take down No. 1 Texas and secure its best Conference start since the 2015 season at 6-2. Carlson helped BU pick up two league wins to improve the Bears’ league mark to 6-2.

Hatch had 14 kills in the Cyclones’ victory over the Longhorns. The win was ISU’s second in program history over a top-ranked team and its first since Sept. 15, 2012, against Nebraska. The senior from Mesa, Arizona added 16 kills with a career-high .560 hitting percentage in a sweep of Texas Tech to extend Iowa State’s winning streak to five matches. This is the two-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team member’s first Big 12 weekly offensive award, becoming the second Cyclone to garner the honor this season.

Stonestreet’s 25-dig performance against UT was the sophomore’s seventh match with 20-plus this season. She added 18 digs against Texas Tech, marking her 18th-straight match with 10 or more digs. This is Stonestreet’s second Big 12 weekly award and her first defensive recognition.

Carlson led the Conference in total assists with 102 during the week while having double-doubles in four-set wins over Texas Tech and Kansas State. The freshman is the first BU player to have three-straight double-double matches since Yossiana Pressley in the first three matches of the 2021 season. This is the Preseason Big 12 Freshman of the Year’s third Rookie of the Week recognition this season.
