TCU’s Audrey Nalls (Offensive), Kansas’ Kennedy Farris (Defensive) and Iowa State’s Maya Duckworth (Rookie) acquired Big 12 Volleyball honors for the 12th week of the season. The award winners are on teams vying for a spot in the NCAA Championship with all three squads residing in the top 40 of the RPI. The Big 12 is currently the highest-ranked RPI Conference in the country.
Nalls led all players in points (25.5) and kills (22) in TCU’s win over No. 10 Baylor, the Horned Frogs’ first win over a ranked team in six years. The senior led the league for the week in points (6.38 pts/s) and kills per set (5.50) and currently leads the Conference in kills (224), kills per set (4.57), points (243.5) and points per set (4.97) in league play. This is Nalls’ third Big 12 offensive accolade this season.
Farris led the Jayhawks defensively with 20 digs as the starting libero in a sweep of West Virginia. The junior averaged 6.67 digs per set and 11 receptions with zero receiving errors. The native of Lansing, Kansas helped KU keep WVU to a .037 hitting percentage. Farris’ 20 digs tied for the third-most in a three-set Big 12 match this season. The victory marked Kansas head coach Ray Bechard’s 208th career Big 12 Conference win, putting him second all-time in league history. This is Farris’ first weekly honor this season and the second defensive weekly award of her career.
Duckworth notched her fifth double-double of the season in the four-set victory over Texas Tech. She matched a team-high 15 kills against the Red Raiders while adding 10 digs. The freshman led ISU with 10 kills against No. 1 Texas and has four-consecutive league matches with double-figure kills. Duckworth has three rookie honors this season.
