Two Records Fall, Texas Sweeps Events at Day Two of Big 12 Swimming & Diving Championship

MORGANTOWN, W.Va - The Texas women (Olivia Bray, Anna Elendt, Emma Sticklen, Kelly Pash) set an all-time Big 12 record in the 400 medley relay (3:26.32) topping the UT record set in 2021 by two seconds, while Carson Foster set a Big 12 Championship record in the 200 IM breaking his previous record by .14 at a time of 1:41.32 to help the Longhorns sweep Thursday’s events at the 2022 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championship at the Aquatic Center at Mylan Park in Morgantown.

The UT men lead the team standings with 411 points while the women’s team is on top with 402 points after the second day of competition.

Erica Sullivan captured the women’s 500 free finishing at 4:39.46. The Olympian becomes the ninth consecutive Longhorn to capture the event.

Coby Carrozza secured the men’s 500 free for the second year in a row with his time of 4:13.31, continuing Texas’ streak in the event since 1997.

Kelly Pash won the women’s 200 IM for the third straight year while setting a pool record time of 1:55.31 and continued UT’s first-place finish in the event dating back to 2011.

In the 50 free, Grace Cooper repeated as the women’s champion with her time of 22.38 while Daniel Krueger won the men’s 50 free for the fourth year in a row, finishing at 19.17 and besting his own pool record.

Hailey Hernandez recorded a personal best of 360.80 points in the women’s 1-meter diving becoming the 10th Longhorn in a row to be victorious in the event.

The Texas men (Anthony Grimm, Caspar Corbeau, Alvin Jiang, Daniel Krueger) finished the 400 medley in 3:03.86 and set a pool record to close out the day.

The top four individuals in each event are awarded All-Big 12 first team designation. The fifth-eighth place finishers are All-Big 12 second team. Full results can be viewed here.

Prelims will resume Friday at 10 a.m. ET/9 a.m. CT with women’s 3m diving scheduled for 5:15 p.m. ET/4:15 p.m. CT followed by swimming finals and the men’s 3m diving final starting at 6 p.m. ET/5 p.m. CT. Both Prelims and Finals will be aired on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
