Women's Tennis Championship Bracket
IRVING, Texas — After a late comeback in a thrilling 4-3 match against Oklahoma State, the Oklahoma women’s tennis squad earned its first outright Big 12 regular-season championship Friday night. The Sooners finished with an 9-0 conference record and will be the No. 1 seed in the Big 12 Tennis Championship, which will be contested from April 21-24 at TCU’s Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth.
After a close win over Baylor on the road, Texas secured the No. 2 seed with an 8-1 record. OSU earned the No. 3 seed after falling to the Sooners in the regular season finale, finishing with a 7-2 record. Baylor took the No. 4 seed with a 6-3 regular season Big 12 record.
Kansas (No. 5 seed), Texas Tech (No. 6 seed) and Iowa State (No. 7 seed) all finished with a 4-5 record. ITA Rankings were used to break the tie between the schools.
TCU finished 2-7 in Big 12 play to take the No. 8 seed, ninth-seeded Kansas State wrapped up the regular season at 1-8 in conference competition and West Virginia slots in as the No.10 seed with an 0-9 Big 12 record.
Thursday’s first round will begin at 10 a.m. with No. 9 K-State facing No. 8 TCU and No. 10 WVU taking on No. 7 Iowa State.
