The Conference announced the men’s and women’s All-Big 12 teams and individual yearly awards for the 2026 Big 12 tennis season on Thursday, as voted on by the league’s head coaches.
Five men’s programs earned yearly honors, with Arizona’s Jay Friend, Baylor’s Devin Badenhorst and TCU’s Duncan Chan all earning Co-Player of the Year as voted on by the league’s coaches. TCU’s Oliver Bonding was named the Freshman of the Year, with Cosme Rolland De Ravel claiming Co-Newcomer of the Year, and David Roditi earning Coach of the Year. Arizona State’s Ofek Shimanov was voted as the Co-Newcomer of the Year, with Oklahoma State’s Alessio Basile rounding out the yearly awards as the Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Friend is the No. fourth-ranked singles player, according to the latest ITA rankings and finished this season with a 14-2 record. The senior led the Wildcats to the regular season Big 12 title, garnering the No. 8 seed in the NCAA Men’s Championship.
Badenhorst is the No. 10 singles player in the ITA rankings. The senior compiled a 17-8 overall record, with a 4-0 conference record. With Badenhorst’s help, the Bears earned the overall No. 10 seed in the NCAA tournament.
Chan finished the regular season ranked eighth in the nation in the latest ITA rankings. The senior recorded a 21-8 season and helped lead the Horned Frogs to claim their fourth Big 12 Tournament title.
Bonding became the third TCU player in the last four seasons to collect Big 12 Freshman of the Year and finished the season with an 11-5 record.
Shimanov becomes the first Sun Devil to earn the award, owning a 15-13 record with wins from courts one and two.
Rolland De Ravel finished the regular season ranked No. 42 in singles play according to the ITA. The senior owns a 15-8 record from court two for the Horned Frogs.
Basile became the third Cowboy to earn Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The Finance major kept a 3.8 GPA while competing on court one for the Pokes.
Roditi was named the Big 12 Coach of the Year after guiding the Horned Frogs to their fourth Big 12 Tournament title, garnering the No. 6 overall seed in the NCAA’s Men’s Championship, compiling a 21-5 record this season.
On the women’s side, Arizona State’s Emilija Tverijonaite earned Player of the Year, along with teammate Vivian Ovrootsky being named Newcomer of the Year. TCU’s Jennifer Jackson claimed the Freshman of the Year award, while Lee Taylor Walker was voted as Coach of the Year. Arizona’s Josie Usereau was voted as the Scholar-Athlete of the Year to round out the individual awards.
Tverijonaite became the first Sun Devil to earn Player of the Year. The junior compiled a 14-3 record from court one for Arizona State. Tverijonaite led the Sun Devils to earn the overall No. 16 seed in the NCAA Championship.
Ovrootsky was named Newcomer of the Year after leading Arizona State with an undefeated 18-0 regular season. She helped the Sun Devils to a share of the regular-season Big 12 title.
Jackson gives the Horned Frogs their first Freshman of the Year since 2019. The freshman owned a 13-2 singles record and garnered the Most Outstanding Performer award at the Big 12 tournament.
Usereau was recognized as the Big 12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She became the first Wildcat to earn the award. The junior physiology and medical sciences major with a minor in biochemistry competed in every match for Arizona.
Walker was voted Coach of the Year after leading TCU to its first Big 12 tournament title in program history. Under his guidance, the Horned Frogs recorded a 20-4 season and earned an NCAA berth.
