TRINITY, Texas – Texas (567, -9) holds a one-stroke lead over Oklahoma (568, -8) heading into the final day of the 2022 Big 12 Men’s Golf Championship.
The Championship was adjusted to a 54-hole format due to a weather suspension on the first day at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas at the 7,434-yard, par-72 course.
The Longhorns shot a 281 (-7) in the first round, the lowest score of the day, one stroke ahead of Oklahoma’s 282 (-6). Texas Tech and Oklahoma State tied for third after the first 18 holes, scoring a 286 (-2).
Texas maintained its one-stroke lead over the Sooners after both teams put up a 286 (-2) in the second round.
Oklahoma State climbed in front of Texas Tech after the Cowboys posted the lowest score of the round with a 284 (-4). OSU has a total score of 570 (-6) while the Red Raiders enter the final day of competition in fourth place with a score of 573 (-3).
Texas Tech’s Ludvig Aberg leads all individuals with a 139 (-5) after 36 holes. Aberg tied for the lowest opening round score with a 68 (-5). Oklahoma’s Chris Gotterup also shot a 68 (-5) in the first round and finished with a score of 140 (-4) to enter the final day tied with Oklahoma State’s Aman Gupta and Texas’ Cole Hammer for second. Gupta’s score of 68 (-4) was the lowest of the second round.
Wednesday’s play will start at 8 a.m. CT with pairings based on the 54-hole team totals and player rankings within their respective teams.
