ISU’s Zheng, KU’s Carlier Claim Big 12 Golfer of the Month Honors

IRVING, Texas – Iowa State’s Emma Zheng (women’s) and Kansas’ Arthur Carlier (men’s) were selected for the first Big 12 Golfer of the Month honors of the 2026-27 season.

Competing in her first career tournament, Zheng became the first freshman in ISU history to win a season opener when she shot 7-under at the Badger Invitational. Zheng carded even or under par in all three of her rounds to lead the Cyclones to a team victory at the Badger Invitational, hosted by Wisconsin. The Auckland, New Zealand native followed up her strong debut by finishing second at the Schooner Fall Classic to once again lead Iowa State to a team win. Individually, Zheng finished second in the 16-team field with a 9-under-par performance. She improved her score in each round of the competition by starting round one at 2-under-par, shooting 3-under-par in round two and saving her best for last with a 4-under-par 66 in round three.

Carlier also paced his team to a pair of victories as Kansas opened its season with a win at the New York Harbor Cup while Carlier finished as the individual co-champion. The sophomore finished the tournament at 12-under-par with rounds of 4-under, 3-under and 5-under. Carlier once again led the Jayhawks to a team victory at Northwestern’s Windon Memorial by finishing eighth on the individual leaderboard with a 2-under-par performance. Between helping KU to a pair of team victories, Carlier also earned a 12th place finish at the Folds of Honor Collegiate, where he shot 3-under-par.
