Kansas 2021-22 Athlete of the Year Nominees

2021-22 Big 12 Athlete of the Year candidates will be highlighted each day at 10 a.m. CT and 2 p.m. CT listed in alphabetical order by school through Friday, July 22.

The winners will be announced the week of July 25. Stay tuned to Big12Sports.com and the Conference’s social media platforms to see the rest of the nominees.

This morning's featured candidates are Kansas' Alexandra Emilianov and Ochai Agbaji.

Accomplishments
  • USTFCCCA Midwest Region Women’s Field Athlete of the Year.
  • 2022 NCAA Outdoor Championships discus runner-up.
  • Big 12 Champion in the discus.
  • 2020 Tokyo Olympics Participant (Track & Field, Moldova).
  • Two-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team.

Ochai Agbaji; Basketball

Accomplishments
  • Unanimously selected for Big 12 Player of the Year and All-Big 12 First Team. 
  • NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player, NCAA Final Four All-Tournament Team, Big 12 Championship Most Outstanding Player, Big 12 All-Tournament Team.
  • Naismith Player of the Year Finalist, Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Finalist, Consensus All-America First Team, Wooden All-America.
  • Led the Big 12 in scoring at 18.8 ppg (51st nationally) and 3FGs made with 103 (15th nationally).
  • Concluded career ranked on the Kansas career lists in points (15th), 3FGS (4th), 3FGS attempted (4th), consecutive starts (7th) and minutes played (9th).
