Ninety percent of the Big 12 Conference received bids to participate in the regionals rounds of the 2023 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championships announced Wednesday by the NCAA Selection Committee. Eight teams and an individual golfer will represent the league, marking the ninth-consecutive season eight or more Big 12 teams had a golfer qualify for NCAA Regionals.
Texas Tech received the coveted No. 1 seed in the Norman Regional and will compete against the 2023 Big 12 Conference champions Oklahoma (No. 2 seed) and No. 10-seeded Kansas. Luke Gutschewski will represent Iowa State at the regional location as an individual selection.
TCU was selected as the No. 7 seed for the Auburn Regional. The Horned Frogs are making their 32
nd NCAA Regionals appearance and will compete against three top-25 teams, including the No. 1 ranked and No. 1 overall-seeded Vanderbilt.
Defending NCAA Champion Texas earned the No. 3 seed and will travel to the Eagle Eye Golf Club in Bath, Michigan, joining the No. 5-seeded K-State Wildcats in the Bath Regional.
Two Big 12 teams will travel out west as No. 4-seeded Oklahoma State heads to the Las Vegas Regional while No. 6-seeded Baylor will compete at the Morgan Hill Regional in California.
Eighty-one teams were selected for six 54-hole regional tournaments that will be contested May 15-17. The top five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals held at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona May 26-31.
