BYU’s Clinger and Utah’s Vringer Garner Weekly Conference Accolades

BYU’s Casey Clinger (men’s) and Utah’s Erin Vringer (women’s) pocketed Big 12 weekly accolades for the fifth week of the season.

Clinger claimed the first men’s Conference weekly award for the Cougars as he led BYU to the team title over 15 ranked teams, including nine in the top 20, at the Nuttycombe Invitational. The senior co-captain clocked a time of 23:10.4 to earn fourth place at the Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course as he was the first of five Cougars in the top 17. The race was Clinger’s first since 2022 after taking last season off to recover from an injury.

Vringer set a new personal record in the 6k in her first race back since 2022 after redshirting last season. The redshirt sophomore helped the Utes finish runner-up at the Nuttycombe Invitational, their best finish in program history at the meet, with a time of 20:14.2. Utah finished ahead of 16 ranked opponents, including then No. 4 Oregon and then-No. 10 Providence. It is the first cross country Conference weekly award for Utah in its debut season in the league.
