Six Big 12 teams were selected for the 2024 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship. Arizona State and Kansas were each chosen as No. 3 seeds while Baylor and Utah will join in hosting as No. 4 seeds. BYU and TCU each made the tournament as No. 5 seeds.
This is the second consecutive season the Conference has had at least six teams make the field and marks the third time in the last four years that the league has had at least six teams in the tournament. The Big 12 tied for second nationally among leagues with four teams hosting first and second rounds.
Arizona State (29-2),
the 2024 Big 12 Champions, is making the school’s 21st appearance in the NCAA Championship and second consecutive. The Sun Devils went 17-1 in league play leading to the first conference title in team history. ASU finished the regular season undefeated at home for the first time since 1973 and will host New Hampshire Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. CT with the winner facing either No. 6 seed Texas A&M or Colorado State.
Kansas (24-4) returns to the tournament for the fourth season in a row and the 13th overall time, all under head coach Ray Bechard. The Jayhawks won 15 Conference matches while finishing second in the league standings (15-3) and will host Colgate Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m. CT. KU and Colgate are paired with No. 6 seed Florida and NC State.
Baylor (22-7, 14-4) will host the first two rounds in Waco, facing off against Wofford Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. CT. The other half of the bracket features No. 5 seed Dayton and South Carolina. This is the ninth consecutive bid for the Bears and the 13th overall selection for BU.
Utah (24-5, 14-4) is set to host as the Utes make their 19th overall NCAA Championship and first since 2021. Utah will take on College of Charleston Dec. 5 at 8:30 p.m. CT and is paired with No. 5 seed Marquette and FGCU.
TCU (21-7, 13-5) faces Hawaii Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. CT in Eugene, Oregon. The Horned Frogs secured a berth in the field for the third straight season and sixth time overall. It marks the first time in program history that TCU has made the tournament three consecutive seasons.
BYU (19-9, 12-6) will take on Loyola Chicago Dec. 5 at 2:30 p.m. CT in West Lafayette, Indiana. The Cougars made the postseason bracket for the 13th consecutive season and the 37th time overall.
For the third year, the top 32 teams were seeded nationally in pods of four and placed within four regions. First- and second-round matches will be played Dec. 5-7 at 16 campus sites. Teams winning both matches will continue to regional play Dec. 12-15. Regionals for the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship will be held at four non-predetermined campus sites, which will be announced Dec. 8. At each site, four teams will compete in single elimination regional semifinal competition.
The regional winners will advance to the national semifinals and championship final hosted by the University of Louisville, in conjunction with the Louisville Sports Commission, Dec. 19 & 22 at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville. The national semifinal matches will be broadcast on ESPN starting at 6:30 p.m. ET, and the championship match will be broadcast on ABC at 3 p.m. ET
