TCU’s Madison Conner was named the Big 12's Player of the Week while BYU’s Delaney Gibb repeats as the Conference’s Freshman of the Week for the seventh week of the 2024-25 women’s basketball season.
Conner averaged a league-leading 28.5 points while adding 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists over the course of TCU’s 103-64 and 92-52 wins over Samford and UCF during the week. The senior from Chandler, Arizona totaled 20 points in the first half of each game while shooting 50% from deep in each victory. Against the Bulldogs, Conner overtook Lauren Heard as the Horned Frogs’ all-time leader for career 30-point games (five) in just 39 games. The 2024 All-Big 12 Second Team member helped lead TCU to its largest margin of victory in a Big 12 road game with the 40-point win over the Knights while she continues to lead the country in 3-pointers (53) and 3-pointers per game (4.1). This is her weekly Big 12 accolade in her career.
Gibb scored 23 points in her league play debut against Arizona. The freshman outscored the Wildcats 13-7 in the second quarter going 5-for-6 from the field and a perfect 3-for-3 from downtown with two rebounds, an assist and a steal in the period. In the third, the guard from Raymond, Alberta scored eight of BYU’s 12 points on 3-of-4 shooting with two more triples to match her career-high of five threes in a game. Gibb’s points and steals (3) led all players for the game while her eight rebounds tied for the most. This is her third weekly recognition of the season, making her the first freshman to win the award three times in the season’s first two months since K-State’s Ayoka Lee in 2020.
