Texas’ Max Belyeu (player) and TCU’s Payton Tolle (pitcher and newcomer) earned Big 12 Baseball weekly recognition for games ending March 24. It is the second Big 12 weekly award for Belyeu this season (March 11) and the first for Tolle.
 
Belyeu led the Longhorns with four homers and 10 RBIs over five games. The sophomore outfielder hit 8-of-16 (.500) for the week as Texas swept Air Force and took 2-of-3 games against Baylor. He became the eighth Longhorn in program history to hit three home runs in a single game as he finished with two solo shots and one grand slam in the series finale against the Bears. The Physical Culture & Sports major from Aledo, Texas didn’t strike out once in the five games and added six runs, four homers and three walks to finish with a .600 on-base percentage. Belyeu has belted a Conference-leading 10 home runs this season and leads the Big 12 with a .833 slugging percentage after calculating a 1.313 slugging percentage this last week.
 
Tolle recorded his first complete game shutout as a Horned Frog as he struck out a career-high 15 batters in the series-opener against Oklahoma State. The junior general studies major struck out multiple batters in five innings and held the Cowboys batters from ever advancing to third base. His 15 strikeouts were the most by a TCU pitcher since Kyler Winkler struck out 15 against Air Force on April 1, 2011. The Yukon, Oklahoma native never faced more than four batters in an inning after turning two double-plays against the Cowboys and became the first Horned Frog to throw a nine-inning, complete game shutout since Johnny Ray on February 22, 2020 (Minnesota). Tolle is the second player this season to take home two Conference awards in the same week after Kansas’ Reese Dutton did so on March 11.
