OSU Takes Home 2024 Big 12 Women’s Tennis Championship Title

STILLWATER, Okla. – Top-seeded Oklahoma State earned its first Big 12 Women’s Tennis Championship title since 2016 with a 4-0 win over No. 2-seeded Texas at the Greenwood Tennis Center. It is the third Big 12 Championship title in program history.

Kristina Novak was named the Most Outstanding Player after finishing the Championship 2-0 in singles play and 2-0 in doubles play. The graduate student registered two wins against UCF with a 6-1, 6-3 singles performance and a 6-2 victory alongside teammate Safiya Carrington in doubles. She concluded her weekend with two more against Texas including a 6-1, 6-2 singles victory and a doubles-clinching 6-3 point with Carrington.

OSU took the doubles point with wins on the second (6-2 by Raquel Gonzalez and Ayumi Miyamoto) and third (6-3 by Carrington and Novak) courts.

In singles, all three Cowgirls points came in straight sets. Novak was the first off the courts (6-1, 6-2) to extend the lead to 2-0 before Ange Oby Kajuru put OSU on the cusp of the championship with a 7-5, 6-1 score. Peyre completed the sweep (6-2, 6-2) to keep Oklahoma State undefeated on the season.
