STILLWATER, Okla. – The Big 12 will have two programs in the semifinal round for the third time in four years in the 2024 NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship as TCU and Texas advanced to the Final Four. Both programs also competed in the 2023 semifinals.
TCU moved on to the next round first with a 5-0 sweep against No. 5 Kentucky for its sixth Final Four appearance in program history. After taking the doubles point, the Horned Frogs took five of the first six sets in singles play as Lui Maxted and Sebastian Gorzny swept their courts to extend the lead to 3-0. Jack Pinnington and Jake Fearnley clinched the match for TCU simultaneously to set up a rematch with No. 1 Ohio State on Saturday (May 18) at 11 a.m. CT. It is the first time in program history that the Horned Frogs have advanced to consecutive Final Fours.
Texas secured its fourth appearance in the last five years in the semifinals with a 4-2 victory against No. 7 Tennessee. The Longhorns jumped out to an early lead by earning the doubles point before Micah Braswell (No. 2 court), Gilles-Arnaud Bailly (No. 3) and Eliot Spizzirri (No. 1) completed the match in singles play. UT will take on No. 6 seed Wake Forest on Saturday (May 18) at 1:30 p.m. CT. Texas last played Wake Forest in the NCAA Championship in 2019 when the Longhorns won the national title via a 4-1 result.
