The Big 12 Conference has released its soccer preseason team for the 2024 season. Selections were voted by the league’s head coaches who were not allowed to vote for their own players.
This season’s preseason team features 24 student-athletes from 11 programs. 2023 Big 12 regular season champions Texas Tech along with TCU lead with four selections apiece while Arizona State, UCF and Colorado garnered three selections each. Oklahoma State had two players named to the team as Arizona, Baylor, BYU, Houston and West Virginia rounded out the team with one selection apiece.
Eleven selections received 2023 All-Big 12 honors, including TTU’s Sam Courtwright, who was named the 2023 Freshman of the Year. TCU’s Camryn Lancaster and TTU’s Macy Blackburn make their second appearance on a Big 12 preseason team.
The preseason team includes 10 juniors, five sophomores and seniors, three graduate students and one freshman. UCF’s Edidiong Etim is the first freshman to be named to a Big 12 preseason team since WVU’s Ashley Lawrence in 2013.
Arizona State’s Enasia Colon and Pauline Nelles along with Colorado’s Faith Leyba earned All-Conference honors in the Pac-12 a season ago. Nelles is joined by CU’s Jordan Nytes, who was the 2022 Big 12 Co-Goalkeeper of the Year, on the team as goalkeepers.
