Texas Tech’s Peyton Parsons (offensive) headlines Week 3’s Big 12 soccer awards as UCF’s Jada Silvest earned Defensive Player of the Week. Oklahoma State’s Grace Gordon secured Goalkeeper of the Week while Arizona State’s Kierra Blundell and Cincinnati’s Rylee Felton shared the Freshman of the Week honor.
Parsons earned her first Big 12 weekly award after scoring five goals in two matches. The Denver native registered a hat trick as the Red Raiders defeated Weber State 4-0 before she garnered a brace in the 5-0 victory over Oral Roberts to end her week. She led the Conference with 10 points scored during Week 3 matches and ranks second nationally this season with seven goals scored.
Silvest helped UCF to a 2-0 shutout against then-No. 28 Georgia. The win marked the Knights’ first victory over a ranked opponent since the 2021 season. UCF’s backline held the Bulldogs to four shots on goal and 10 total shot attempts. Additionally, the redshirt freshman recorded her first collegiate assist during the 48
th minute of the contest. Silvest is the third player from UCF to claim a Big 12 weekly award and is the first Knight to earn Defensive Player of the Week.
Gordon led OSU to its fifth victory of the season following a 3-0 victory over San Diego State. She grabbed a season-high seven saves to hold the Aztecs scoreless, who took 20 shots during the 90 minutes. Gordon helped the Cowgirls claim their best start to a season since the 2017 campaign with her fourth clean sheet, which ranks second nationally. Previously claiming Week 1’s Goalkeeper of the Week, she marks the third consecutive week that OSU has earned a weekly accolade.
Blundell landed an assist and scored a hat trick as Arizona State collected two wins during last week’s contests. She dished out an assist in the 2-0 victory over Grambling. The freshman forward then recorded a hat trick, scoring all goals against Penn in the 3-0 win. She became the 14
th Sun Devil to register a hat trick in program history and is the fourth freshman to do so as well.
Felton scored three goals and dished out an assist during the Bearcats’ matches against Louisville and Eastern Michigan. Against the Cardinals, she scored the game-tying goal in the 65
th minute in the 1-1 draw. The freshman played a role in the three goals scored by Cincinnati on Sunday against Eastern Michigan, registering a brace and an assist in the 3-1 win which was the Eagles’ first loss of the season. Felton is the second Bearcat to earn a Big 12 weekly nod during its second season in the league, following goalkeeper Anna Rexford a year ago.
