UCF’s Mehdi Benchakroun earned his second consecutive Big 12 Men’s Tennis Player of the Week while Arizona’s Josie Usereau was named the Big 12 Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for matches ending January 26.

The junior defeated No. 61 Zoran Ludoski 6-1, 6-4 in singles to bring the score to 3-2 after a doubles win with Santiago Giamichelle (6-4) helped UCF secure the doubles point. He added another doubles victory against Oklahoma State to finish the weekend with a 3-0 record and secured his second consecutive Big 12 Men’s Tennis Player of the Week.

Usereau finished the week with a 4-0 record and two ranked wins against No. 16 Pepperdine  to remain undefeated on the season. She defeated No. 13 Savannah Broadus in straight sets (6-3, 6-3) in singles after teaming up with Belen Nevenhoven for a 6-3 doubles victory over the 101st-ranked pair of Liam Oved and Alexia Harmon. Usereau added another two victories against Cal Poly with both the singles (7-6(4), 6-4) and doubles (6-3) wins coming on the No. 2 court. It is her first career Big 12 weekly honor.
