BYU, K-State and WVU Take Home Weekly Big 12 Volleyball Awards

Kansas State’s Shaylee Myers (offensive), West Virginia’s LonDynn Betts (defensive) and BYU’s Suli Davis (rookie) garnered Big 12 recognition following the second week of league play.

Myers led the Wildcats to a 2-0 week that included a 34-kill performance against West Virginia to become the first Wildcat in the rally-scoring era to reach the mark. The 34 kills are the most by a Big 12 player this season and is tied for the second-most kills in a single match nationally this season. Myers finished with 39.5 points against the Mountaineers, making her only the second player in program history to post at least 39.5 points and set a rally-scoring era record. The senior also tied the K-State record for service aces in a five-set match, becoming the fifth player in the rally-scoring era to notch five aces. In her second match of the week, she registered her second career double-double with 24 kills and 11 digs against Cincinnati. Myers ended the week leading the Big 12 in points (63.5) and kills (58) while adding 20 digs and one block. It is her second Big 12 weekly award this season and the third of her career.

Betts helped West Virginia record its first-ever ranked win at home as she finished with 24 digs against then-No. 19 BYU. The 24 digs are tied for the most in a five-set match in Conference play and boosted her season average to 3.64 digs per set, the sixth-most in league play. The Mountaineers’ ranked win was their first since 2021 and the fifth in program history. The senior led the Conference in total digs for the week with 42 in two matches against Kansas State and BYU. Betts added 15 assists and four service aces while finishing with a .933 reception percentage across the two contests. Betts is the first Mountaineer to receive a Big 12 weekly award since Camilla Covas (defensive) did so on Oct. 17, 2023.

Davis collected her second Big 12 weekly award as she led BYU with 48 kills through two matches. The freshman outside hitter averaged the third-most kills per set (5.33) for the week and highlighted the two contests with a career-high of 27 kills against Cincinnati, the second-most by a Cougar in the rally-scoring era. In her next match, Davis concluded the week with 21 kills against West Virginia to extend her double-digit kills streak to 13 matches. She also contributed 13 digs, four blocks as well as a pair of aces and assists on the week.
