Colorado’s Ana Burilovic (offensive), Iowa State’s Rachel Van Gorp (defensive) and BYU’s Suli Davis (rookie) were named the Big 12 Volleyball Players of the week for matches ending Nov. 2.
Burilovic led Colorado to a pair of wins, recording a Big 12-leading 48 kills and hitting .349 across two matches. The junior delivered a career-high 29 kills in a five-set victory at Northern Colorado and followed that with 19 kills in a four-set win over then-No. 18 Baylor. Burilovic also contributed 13 digs and three blocks, finishing the week among the league leaders in kills per set (5.33) and a Conference-high 53.5 total points. This is Burilovic’s second Big 12 weekly award this season. She was also named the AVCA Division I Player of the Week on September 30.
Van Gorp anchored Iowa State’s defense in back-to-back ranked wins over then-No. 18 Baylor and then-No. 6 Arizona State, marking the first time the Cyclones recorded consecutive ranked wins since 2012. The sophomore libero posted 25 digs in the sweep of the Bears and 18 against the Sun Devils, extending her double-figure dig streak to 27 matches. Van Gorp helped the Cyclones hold their opponents to a combined .159 hitting percentage and committed zero reception errors across both matches. Her 43 digs for the week were the most by a Cyclone and the third-most in the conference. It is Van Gorp’s second Conference weekly accolade of the season.
Davis led the Cougars with 31 kills over two matches, the fifth-most in the Conference for the week. The freshman outside hitter posted double-digit kills for the 20
th consecutive match and has reached double-figures in all but one of BYU’s 23 matches. She added 17 digs, four assists, four service aces, and two blocks to finish the week, averaging 4.43 kills per set and 5.2 points per set. It is her fourth Big 12 Rookie of the Week honor this season.
