The Big 12 will be represented by 10 programs in the 2025 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship, which is the most of any conference. The 10 selections for the NCAA Tournament are the most in Big 12 history, surpassing the previous high of eight in 2001.
Arizona State was chosen as a No. 2 seed while Kansas was selected as a No. 4 seed and will both host the first two rounds. BYU, Colorado and Iowa State received No. 5 seeds while Baylor and TCU were tabbed with No. 6 seeds. Arizona, Kansas State and Utah rounded out the Conference’s selections with at-large bids.
This is the fifth consecutive season that the Conference has had at least five teams make the field and the seventh time in Big 12 history that the Conference has had seven or more bids to the national tournament.
The 2025 Big 12 Champions, Arizona State (26-3), will make its 22
nd appearance and third consecutive in the NCAA Championship. After going 17-1 in Big 12 play for the second consecutive season, the Sun Devils will host the first two rounds, starting with a match against Coppin State on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 8 p.m. CT. The winner will take on either Utah State or No. 7 seed Tennessee.
Kansas (22-10) will make its fifth consecutive appearance in the national tournament and 14
th in program history under first-year head coach Matt Ulmer. The Jayhawks have won four of their last five matches against ranked opponents and will take on High Point at 6:30 p.m. CT on Thursday, Dec. 4. In the second round, the winner will be matched up with the winner of No. 5 Miami and Tulsa.
BYU (22-8) will travel to Los Angeles to take on Cal Poly at 7 p.m. CT on Thursday, Dec. 4, with a chance to play either No. 4 USC or Princeton in the second round. This marks the 14
th straight NCAA tournament appearance and 38
th in BYU program history.
Colorado (22-8) will play in its 22
nd national tournament and first since 2022 after earning an at-large bid. The Buffaloes will play American in Bloomington, Indiana on Thursday, Dec. 4, at 2 p.m. CT. They are paired with Toledo and No. 4-seeded host Indiana.
Iowa State (22-7) will return to the NCAA Championship with a first-round match against St. Thomas (Minnesota) in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Friday, Dec. 5 at 4:30 p.m. CT. It is the 18
th appearance in Cyclone history, with 17 of them coming under head coach Christy Johnson-Lynch. A win would push the Cyclones to the second round against either No. 4 seed Minnesota or Fairfield.
Baylor (17-9) will open the postseason with a trip to West Lafayette, Indiana. The Bears will play Arkansas State on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 3:30 p.m. CT with a chance to play No. 3-seeded Purdue or Wright State in the second round on the line. The Bears won four of their last five matches to earn their 10
th straight appearance and 14
th overall in the NCAA tournament.
TCU (20-10) begins the NCAA tournament with a match against Stephen F. Austin in College Station, Texas on Friday, Dec. 5 at 4 p.m. CT. The winner will be paired with the winner of No. 3 Texas A&M and Campbell. It is the fourth straight season the Horned Frogs have made the field and the seventh time overall.
Arizona (16-12) earned an NCAA bid for the first time since 2018 and will play No. 7 seed South Dakota State on Friday, December 5 at 6:30 p.m. CT in Palo Alto, California. The Wildcats have advanced out of the first round of the NCAA Tournament 17 times in program history. An 18
th time would pair them with the winner of No. 2-seeded host Stanford and Utah Valley.
Kansas State (17-9) was awarded an at-large bid for the first time since 2021 and will travel to Lincoln, Nebraska. The Wildcats will make their 19
th tournament appearance in school history against No. 8 seed San Diego. The winner will then be paired with No. 1 seed Nebraska or Long Island (LIU).
Utah (15-14) earned its 20
th NCAA Tournament bid in program history and plays No. 6-seeded Northern Iowa in the first round. They are paired with No. 3-seeded host Creighton and Northern Colorado.
The first and second rounds will be played Dec. 4-6 at 16 campus sites. Teams winning both matches will continue to regional play Dec. 11-14. Regionals for the 2025 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship will be held at four non-predetermined campus sites. At each site, four teams will compete in a single-elimination regional semifinal competition.
The regional winners will advance to the national semifinals and championship final at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri. The national semifinals will be held on Dec. 18. The two winners of the semifinals will advance and compete in the national championship, which will take place on Sunday, Dec. 21.
