UF and SDSU Earn Week 1 Lacrosse Awards

San Diego State’s Frankie Gracia (Attack), Kate Christos (Midfielder), and Bella Tan (Freshman), along with Florida’s Theresa Bragg (Defensive) and Georgia Hoey (Goalkeeper) collected the first weekly Big 12 lacrosse awards.
 
Garcia had eight goals in the first two matches as the Aztecs went 2-0 on opening weekend. She had career-high six goals in their 17-5 victory over the Detroit Mercy. Garcia is the youngest player to etch her name into the record book's top ten single game goals list, tying for sixth.
 
Christos also contributed to the Aztecs 2-0 start by leading the team in draw controls with seven over the two games, five which came in a single game. Christos also contributed by scoring five goals in this first week.
 
Tan totaled eight goals in the opening matches, scoring five during the 15-10 win over Eastern Michigan. Tan also scored three goals in the fourth quarter of the game to lead the victory against Eastern Michigan.
 
Bragg had seven ground balls and totaled six turnovers in two games for the Gators. She also held Johns Hopkins leading scorer to 2-of-9 shooting.
 
Hoey had 15 saves to help the Gators start the season 2-0. She had a career high 10 saves against top 25 ranked Johns Hopkins and she stopped all three shots from Kennesaw State.
