Three Big 12 Teams in Preseason D1Baseball Top 25

Oklahoma State leads three Big 12 baseball teams in the Preseason D1Baseball Top 25. The Cowboys came in at No. 17 followed by Arizona at No. 21 and TCU at No. 23.

The Cowboys won 11 of their final 13 regular season games in 2024 before winning the 2024 Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship for its fourth Conference Championship title in program history. The Cowboys are led by Preseason Big 12 Player of the Year, Nolan Schubart, who led the team with a .370 batting average in OSU’s 42-19 campaign.

Arizona opens the season ranked in the top 25 for the first time since 2022. The Wildcats made the NCAA tournament for the 43rd time in program history in 2024 and hosted a Regional at Hi Corbett Field for the third time after finishing with a 36-23 record. Mason White will lead the Wildcats into their first season as a member of the Big 12 after launching a team-leading 19 home runs in 2024.

TCU was listed in the top 25 of the preseason ranking for the fourth consecutive season under head coach Kirk Saarloos. Horned Frog lefty Ben Abeldt returns for his junior season as a unanimous preseason All-Big 12 team member after leading the team in both saves (7) and appearances (23) with a 1.07 ERA in 2024.

The Big 12 will include 14 baseball programs this season, the most in league history, with the addition of Arizona, Arizona State and Utah. Conference play will begin on March 14 with a berth into the 2025 Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship on the line. The Championship returns to Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, as 12 teams will qualify for the event that runs May 21-24.
