Big 12 Baseball Weekly Honors Announced

IRVING, Texas – Arizona’s Mason White (co-player), BYU’s Ryder Robinson (co-player), UCF’s Matt Sauser (co-pitcher) and TCU’s Tommy Lapour (co-pitcher) all shared weekly Big 12 baseball honors, and Kansas outfielder Jackson Hauge was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week.

White led the Wildcats in nearly every major offensive statistic for the week, which included a series win at BYU and a midweek victory over Grand Canyon. The infielder hit .474 with four extra-base hits and six RBI, which was highlighted by home runs in games two and three of the series. The Tucson, Arizona native has raised his batting average by nearly 20 points this season and sits one home run shy of the top three all-time in program history.

Also winning honors at the plate from the Arizona-BYU series, Robinson hit .526 in four games last week for the Cougars with a pair of homers, five doubles and five RBI. The sophomore opened his week with three doubles in a midweek win versus Utah Valley before tallying seven hits in 14 plate appearances against the Wildcats.  His seven hits against then-No. 22 Arizona marked a season high for a series.

Sauser earned the decision for the Knights in Saturday’s 4-2 win over then-No. 25 TCU by scattering five hits over eight innings while striking out eight batters. The sophomore from Bloomington, Illinois had a career night on the mound for UCF in his first-ever weekend start. He faced the minimum batters in six of his eight innings pitched as he retired 14 consecutive hitters. With 77 strikes in his 104 pitches on Saturday, Sauser moved to 3-0 on the season with a 1.82 ERA in 24.2 innings.

Earning co-pitcher honors from the same series, LaPour stifled the Big 12’s best hitting team in his Thursday start. The sophomore allowed one run on four hits in seven innings in TCU’s 6-1 win over UCF.  LaPour only allowed two runners to reach third base while striking out four batters without issuing a walk. The native of Blue Spring, Missouri’s fifth consecutive quality start helped push his record to 6-2 for the season.

Hauge, a transfer from Minnesota State Mankato, earned his second weekly award this season by hitting 7-for-15 (.467) with a 1.526 OPS in an 18-run win over Wichita State and a sweep of rival Kansas State for the first time since 2019. His seven hits included two doubles and two home runs while driving in nine and scoring six runs.  Hauge extended his hitting streak to 27 games and sits in third in program history with 17 home runs this season. The outfielder has helped the Jayhawks match their 2024 win total with 15 regular season games remaining.
