The 2024-25 Big 12 Athlete of the Year nominees will be featured in alphabetical order by school starting Monday, July 14, through Wednesday, July 23, at 11 a.m. CT and 2 p.m. CT.
Each institution nominated one male and one female athlete of any classification who competed for their institution during the 2024-25 school year. Student-athletes were required to be in good academic standing and must have participated in a league-sponsored sport.
The 16 full-membership schools that competed during the 2024-25 academic year are eligible.
The winners will be announced Thursday, July 24. Stay tuned to Big12Sports.com and the league’s social media platforms to see the rest of the candidates.

K-State Male Athlete of the Year Candidate
Brendan Mott, Football

Accomplishments
- Named 2024 Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year and earned First Team All-Big 12 honors.
- Led the Conference with 8.5 sacks and tied for fourth in tackles for loss (11.5).
- Helped lead K-State to a nine-win season, including a victory over Rutgers in the Rate Bowl.
- Recognized as a CSC Academic All-District honoree and earned Academic All-Big 12 honors.
K-State Female Athlete of the Year Candidate
Carla Bernat, Golf
Sr., Castellon, Spain
- Named Big 12 Women’s Golfer of the Year and selected to the All-Big 12 Team after leading K-State to its first appearance in the NCAA Championship.
- Earned First Team All-America honors from both the WGCA and Golfweek. Set school records for career scoring average (70.44) and season scoring average (70.08). Tied the program record for single-season wins (3) and tournaments played (13).
- Won the 2025 Augusta National Women’s Amateur.
- Participated in National Girls and Women in Sports Day and the Cats for Cans Food Drive.
