Big 12 Men’s Golf Awards Announced

IRVING, Texas – The Big 12 Conference has announced its 2026 Men’s Golf postseason awards, recognizing outstanding performances from across the league following the conclusion of the regular season and Conference championship competition.

Big 12 Player of the Year honors went to Preston Stout of Oklahoma State, while the Cowboys’ head coach Alan Bratton was named Coach of the Year. Kihei Akina of BYU earned Freshman of the Year recognition and Will King of Kansas was selected as Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Stout finished the 2025-26 season winning a third consecutive individual Conference title. The junior from Richardson, Texas is ranked No. 2 nationally and has won four events this spring, with those four victories coming in his last six starts. His most recent victory came at the Big 12 Championship, where he became the first player in league history to win the event three times.

Akina came in second at the 2026 Big 12 Men’s Golf Championship presented by Allstate after winning two tournaments during the 2025-26 season. Currently ranked No. 6 nationally with a 68.92 scoring average, the freshman recorded two runner-up finishes, seven top five finishes and 10 top 10 finishes in 12 tournaments this season.

King is a senior at Kansas where he holds a 4.0 in Molecular, Cellular & Developmental Biology with a minor in Business, claiming his second consecutive Big 12 Scholar Athlete of the Year. King has competed in 11 events this season and leads the Jayhawks with five top 10 finishes and seven top 20 finishes.

The Player and the Freshman of the Year awards were determined by Clippd rankings, while the Scholar Athlete of the Year and Head Coach of the Year were voted on by the league’s head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own student-athletes.
