Utah’s Avery Neff (gymnast) and Denver’s Megan Aamold (newcomer) reclaimed their Big 12 gymnastics weekly awards, while the Utes’ Camie Winger (event specialist) earns her first Conference award.
Neff scored the second-best all-around score of her career, 39.625, and won the all-around competition during the Big 12 dual at Arizona. Additionally, she captured wins in bars (9.90), beam (9.95) and floor (9.90). She tied her season-high totals on bars and floors, while she tied a career-high on beam. The Red Rocks captured a 197.125-195.975 road win.
Winger, in the anchor position of Utah’s beam rotation and the team’s last routine of the night, matched her career-best 9.95 to tie with Neff for the event win. Her score helped the Utes post a season-best score of 49.550 on the apparatus. Winger has a 9.887 average on beam and is ranked 18
th nationally.
Aamold’s 9.925 on the balance beam continued her streak of improving her score on the apparatus for the third consecutive meet. She claimed another event win, tying for first place as DU recorded a season-high team score on 49.450 on beam. The Pioneers beat Arizona State 196.950-195.875 in the league matchup.
In Big 12 gymnastics this week, BYU travels to Salt Lake on Friday to face No. 12 Utah, while Saturday’s meet schedule includes Arizona State at West Virginia and Arizona at Denver.
