Kansas’ Bryce Barkdull (Men’s) and Mason Meinershagen (Women’s) collect the first set of Big 12 outdoor track and field weekly accolades to open the 2026 season. Both athletes competed at KU’s Jayhawk Spring Fling.
Barkdull opened his outdoor season by winning the men’s pole vault with a vault of 5.55 meters (18 feet, 2.5 inches). The sophomore’s mark is tied for first nationally while leading the Conference. This is the first Big 12 weekly honor of Barkdull’s career.
On the women’s side, Meinershagen won the women’s pole vault with a clearance of 4.45 meters (14 feet, 7 inches). The junior set the fifth-best mark in program history, along with setting an NCAA-leading mark. This is Meinershagen’s first Big 12 accolade.
